kids-room-rugWhen designing your kids’ bedrooms, there are many aspects to consider. Of course, you want the design to look cohesive and cute, but you also need to make sure that it is practical.

When deciding on what flooring options you want for your kids’ rooms, you need to keep in mind both safety and cleanability. If you live in Sedona flooring options may be somewhat limited only because the town is so small. That being said, there are still plenty of viable options for you to choose from.

Carpet

Since children tend to fall down quite often, it is a good idea to have a soft surface for them to land on. However, for a children’s room, not any carpet will do. You want to look for a material that is naturally stain-resistant and easy to clean, such as olefin, nylon, or blended fibers.

When it comes to the design of the carpet, there is no better room in the house to add some color. It works best to select a neutral-colored main carpet, and then choose bright, colorful accent rugs to spice it up.

Vinyl

If you are worried about carpet being too hard to keep clean, you may want to opt for a vinyl surface. Vinyl is not only affordable, but it very low maintenance.

If anything spills on it, it can be easily wiped up without a second thought. The only downside to vinyl is that it may be a little hard for your child if he falls down. You can solve this problem by finding soft tiles that fit together like a puzzle. These tiles come in many different designs made just for kids’ rooms. Plus, putting them together is a game all its own. An area rug is another option; however, don’t forget the rug pad to prevent the rug from bunching up or sliding.

Laminate

If you love the look of hardwood floors, laminate flooring is a great option. It is much easier to clean and maintain than actual hardwood, yet it emulates the beauty.

Unlike actual hardwood, it is even resistant to dings and scratches, making it perfect for a child’s room. Once again, you may want to consider soft tiles or an area rug to soften up the playing area.

As you can see, even in Sedona flooring choices are still aplenty. Since your flooring serves as the canvas to your room, once you choose the perfect floor for your kid’s room, you can then create the rest of the room to match.
